If you have a tax refund coming from your 2009 individual income tax return and have not received your refund after about four weeks, there is a way to track down the refund status. Just go to the “Where’s My Refund?” online tool at www.irs.gov. You’ll see it near the top of the “Individuals” tab on the IRS homepage.
When you click on the tool, you will need to input your social security number, filing status, and refund amount as reported on your 2009 income tax return. Click on “Submit” and the status of your refund will be displayed.
Be aware that this online tool does not track refunds from amended tax returns or business returns.
