Last-minute legislation that has changed 2010 tax law will delay the release of many federal tax forms according to the IRS. As a result, taxpayers who claim itemized deductions on Schedule A, including home mortgage interest, charitable contributions, and state taxes may have to wait until February before they can file their 2010 individual income tax returns.
Although the IRS says the majority of taxpayers will be able to file their tax returns as they normally do, they are working to minimize the processing impact of the recent tax law changes. The forms delay doesn’t affect the filing deadline of April 18, 2010.
