Metcalf Hodges helped the Arthritis Foundation of Whatcom County surpass its fundraising goal while attracting over 3,600 participants during the 24th Annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk on December 10, 2011. According to Sarah Papageorge, Metcalf Hodges team member and Arthritis Foundation board member, the 2011 event was the best ever and set a new record by raising over $171,000 for local arthritis services and national research. The Metcalf Hodges Team contributed $6,155 to the record-setting total funds raised and ranked second overall for team contributions.
More than 300 dogs and 2 miniature horses accompanied the thousands of runners and walkers as they traversed the 3-mile course in downtown Bellingham. According to Papageorge the Bellingham Jingle Bell Run is among the top five JBR events in the country.
